I just really enjoyed going around the house plugging stuff in and seeing with my own eyes what I've always heard about vampire appliances like hair dryers that consume energy when plugged in even when they're switched off. I was startled to see that the energy consumed by the switched-off hair dryer was about the same as Karsten's phone charger.

It was kind of fun and fascinating. Let me know what you think when you start playing with yours. I'm sure you have a better understanding of electricity than I do, so I have to brush up on my volts and watts and whatnot. :)
