Mac geeks?
I upgraded the RAM in my PowerBook from 512 MB to 2 GB last night but it’s still a bit sluggish. Must be a different problem. Hard drive, perhaps. Suggestions?

Eww, what an awful problem! It sucks after investing all that money–then waiting in anticipation after installation for the blazing new performace and… nothing.
I just installed more RAM in my PC laptop on Monday and am getting the same problem, actually. Now, I’m a big computer geek but still lack the label of supernerd, so I can’t say for sure, but…
… hard drive speed may be playing a part in it. For example, my desktop computer runs on a 7200RPM hard drive, while my laptop is running off of a 5400RPM drive (I believe). This will gauge how fast you can access your information, so regardless of RAM, your hard drive can only move so fast. And the processor speed will affect things too, as well as whatever background crap you have running that may be hogging the attention of the processor.
Just some thoughts. I wish I had a Powerbook–perhaps my future riches have one in store for me

On the upside, with your new RAM installation, you can now run about 892374378 programs simultaneously. But leave it to your hard drive (?) to leave them all a bit sluggish.
