“I’m your sledgehammer, let there be no doubt about it”
I took this quick pic with my Treo 680 from the driver’s seat of my car as I headed out to work this morning. (Obviously, I left via the back door.) It just barely conveys what the remains of our front porch looks like after one day with Karsten wielding a sledgehammer for about 5 hours. (I wielded it, too, for about 10 minutes. I’m sore. He’s not. Guess which one of us is cut out for this kind of work?)
John H and NiT’s weekend-blogger Ginger dropped by on their way to lunch to admire the progress, and got the tour of our untidy-due-to-frequent-travel house while they were here.
I did take a lot more pictures with the other camera, but I haven’t gotten them into the laptop yet, so I’ll be back with more later.

Allright! Now just a little “Digging in the Dirt” and soon enough your place will be “Big Time”.

That’s really funny, because actually I spent most of the day weeding, so we did in fact have the digging in the dirt part covered. The other reference I’m hoping to avoid is that reddish rain one, but the forecast is looking foreboding enough that it might be inevitable. So… here comes the flood.

Ah…controlled destruction. Such fun.
Unfortunately it looks to me that my first controlled destruction on the new house will be re-bedding and re-rocking about 200cu.ft. of yard verging. Oh…no wait…that’s just the part inside the fence. Add another 200cu.ft. to that.

I am so impressed that you guys are doing so much of this renovation on your own. SO impressed. I could never even imagine attempting such a task! It will be worth every sore muscle in the end!
