Prince is so shocking!

I did not watch this super-bowl-thing you all keep talking about. (Is that soccer or something?)

But I have been made aware (that is to say, the CEO just popped his head in the doorway and mentioned to me) that the artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known As Prince played halftime. In the rain. With an electric guitar.

I am not a physicist, nor am I a meteorologist, nor am I an electrician. But isn’t there some electrical shock hazard here? Or is that not a very rock’n'roll thing to be worried about and I am therefore being a big ol’ sissy?

Help settle my mind, people.

PS: Brittney, does this, in your esteemed estimation, count as blogging about the Super Bowl?

    Well, it came up online, and someone said that as long as the mics were cordless, he was okay, but yeah, I’m not sure how that works with the guitar. Maybe he was faking it? ;p

    From what I could tell not just the mics but the guitars too were cordless.

    I thought he was awesome - best Super Bowl halftime show ever. And I generally have mixed emotions about Prince. The covers (Hendrix and the Foo Fighters) were particularly great.

    Yep, cordless. I was having a hard time enjoying it at first while I was trying to figure out how he could play in the rain (is he going to get shocked? is he finger-synching?), but I just had to let it go. And then I kept worrying that one of his dancers in the high heeled boots would slip and fall. I guess this makes me very old. “Oh, no, y’all are gonna hurt yusselves out there!”

    It’s Prince. Everyone on stage was wearing high heels. One can only assume they were rubber-soled to avoid electrocution.

    Without doing any research at all whatsoever, I’m going to assume that he was just running a wireless system. I used to do that but then realized you only do that sort of thing at the Super Bowl.

    Wireless smireless, who cares? I need to get back to this whole “is it soccer or sumthin?” Prior to that, i had this whole serious crush thing workin for ya, now, I’m re-thinking it.

    If its any consolation I love you even more because you don’t like watching sports.

    One of the things that amazes me is since I’m a big male I constantly get “Hey, did you see that game last night between mrrr mrr and mrr mrr mrrrrr?” to which I reply “I don’t like sports.” Nothing too surprising there, but then EVERY SINGLE TIME the person goes on to tell me all about it. It’s amazing.

    Yeah, I get the same thing with American Idol. Everything thinks I care because… I’m a songwriter? Because I love music? Because I love to laugh at a spectacle of people making idiots of themselves?

    Whatever the reason, people always want to give me a play-by-play of last night’s show. Bleah.
