MySpace may be hazardous to more than your social life

Wow. Between this:

MySpace Banner Ad Infects Million Users

and this:

Worm lurks behind MySpace profiles

I’m awfully glad I’ve been too busy to visit MySpace lately. And you know, I think I’ll be avoiding it for a while until they tighten their security a bit.

I was once hit with a banner based worm on quizilla, but I don’t remember what browser I was using.

Linux. Firefox/thunderbird with adblocker and noscript. I don’t even hesitate to go to any website or open any attachment in email. In fact, the novell guy sends me dangerous payloads so we can take them apart and figure out what it was supposed to do.

Oh yeah, I forgot I have adblocker and noscript on my Firefox browser at home, too (on a Mac OS X machine, so while not quite Linux, still not quite Windows either, in terms of vulnerability to attack). And I long ago blocked MySpace ads mostly because they’re so freakin’ annoying. So I guess I was in very little peril anyway, but still. How obnoxious.
