Heat update / energy audit
The energy audit people were clearly overwhelmed in a “where do we begin” type of way. Yikes. But they came back with useful info and will be providing a full written report in a week or so.
Meanwhile, we’ve been sitting around wrapped in comforters and/or coats. We escaped to the Frist Center to see the Murano glass exhibit (it was gorgeous!) for a while this afternoon, but we’ve come back and have broken down — we’re running the furnace for an hour or so. We’re such wimps.

My best advice: get an electric blanket. Less than $100 for a king-size at a discount store (Sam’s, TJMaxx, etc). Actually get two. One on your bed, one for when you’re on the couch. Electricity is cheap in N’ville, gas isn’t. An electric blanket and hot showers got us through a week of no heat in the ice storm of–98? I forget.

If you are still sitting in a cold house, try using electric Radiant Oil space heaters. You can purchase them at any home improvement store for about $50.00 and they are pretty efficient and economical at keeping individual rooms comfortable.Hope this helps. Good luck!
