Didn’t Toby Keith used to be cool?
I miss the days when Toby Keith was cool enough to collaborate with Sting. *sigh*
Honey Bowtie Music blog: where sticky songs meet (occasionally) overdressed ideas. Sweet.

He’s turned himself into the Patriotic Crusader. Only that’s not quite my brand of patriotism.

When was that? I’m unaware of that Toby Keith.

The “Dream Walkin’” album came out in 1997, and it included the wonderful “I’m So Happy I Can’t Stop Crying,” which was not only a Sting cover, it was also a duet with Sting. And it’s a friggin’ great recording. It’s just a touch more mellow than the original Sting recording, and it strikes just the right balance of bittersweet melancholy and genuine acceptance of life as it is, not as we wish it could be.
I took a walk alone last night
I looked up at the stars
Just trying to find an answer in my life
I chose a star for me
I chose a star for him
I chose two stars for my kids and one star for my wife
Something made me smile
Something seemed to ease the pain
Something ’bout the universe
And how it’s all connected
*sigh*

Wow. I need to get a hold of that song, especially that version.
