Alcoholic:

Shiraz/Syrah - a good bottle for under $10 (with the mixed-case discount from my favorite wine store, this is eminently possible)

more of same

Bailey's, preferably in very strong, dark, bitter coffee. Mm - flavor wars.

Non-alcoholic:

Real lemonade. If it's had corn syrup or FDA Yellow Dye No. [anything] anywhere near it, it doesn't count: only real lemons need apply.

Water. Preferably ice-cold. I grew up with tap water and liked it just fine, except for the stuff in the area of West Virginia where my grandparents' farm is located (sulphur, UGH) and that in Somerville, MA (tap water should never be a lovely pale yellow...).

More of either of the previous two.

I don't match wine to food much, primarily because most of what I read in the course of my cookbook/cooking-mag perusals speaks specifically and only to meat pairings, and secondarily because I haven't yet taken the time to hunt up the amazing wine-with-tofu website I'm sure is out there somewhere :-).

::wonders if anyone would notice if she brought a bottle of wine in for lunch tomorrow...::

I pretty much only drink water, ever, for any reason. Boring, aren't I? :-)

I do like nonalcoholic pina coladas sometimes, if the weather's hot and I want to be decadent.

(I used to be a big soda drinker, but in an effort to cut at least one bad-for-me thing out of my diet, I quit cold-turkey 5 or 6 years ago.)

I quit drinking alcohol a year and a few months ago. I try to drink water or tea during and around every meal. though i've fallen back into drinking soda.

Alcoholic:

wine
wine
cognac, grappa or Grand Marnier - or wine :)

Non-alcoholic

water or iced tea
water or iced tea
tea, coffee or water

I used to drink a lot of soda, but I went off it a few years ago, around the time I quit smoking. Probably because I was drinking a *lot* of water to help with the nicotine withdrawal.

before dinner:
Belvedere vodka martini, extra dirty, up

with:
really, really depends, but let's say a good Shiraz or Chardonnay

after:
The Mega Troubles Galore, from Betty's (a restaraunt down the street from me.) It's vodka, Lindemann's Framboise Lambic and champagne.

I bet you'd like it. It's a very, very herbal liqueur. I like it, both its flavor and its schtick. :)

As for me, it depends. Really, I can't make this simple. I like almost everything liquid (except soda, which is okay in a pinch but I don't choose, and very sweet drinks). It would depend heavily on my mood and the weather and where I was and what I was eating whether I'd want tea, coffee, good red wine, good white whine, bourbon, mint tea, water, melty lemon granita, limoncello... you get the idea. :)
