I just wanted to say that your vacation idea of staying in Nashville sounds like the best idea ever and I may be inspired to steal it for myself in the next few weeks, and “visit” Ohio.

And I also love the phrase “Nashvillians.” I often referred to the residents of the town I went to college in as “Granvillians.” It makes me giggle. I am easily amused.

No, I tried tempting Karsten into it — he loves cheesecake. But I try to eat vegan (though I had a bite of Karsten’s “Pestato” pizza at Christopher), so I just happily drank my decaf soy Almond Joy (or let’s call it “Almond Soy”). And he’d just had cheesecake a few weeks ago, so he felt like he’s used up his cheesecake allowance for the year.

Do they make it inhouse there? Or is it from a bakery?

I’ll occasionally go out to Caffeine on Wednesday nights to hear Mambo Blue; they’re a fairly good latin jazz group. Did you try Caffeine’s cheesecake?

Yeah, I’ve edited the entry to reflect that pronunciation as well, since that’s the other one I’ve heard most of the time. But several of my colleagues who are native Nashvillians use the “MUN” pronunciation. Weird, eh?

I had a friend who for years pronounced that street “demon bruen,” like the creature from hell and the high school mascot, until someone set her straight. I’ve always pronounced it, and heard it pronounced everywhere, as “de-MON-brie-en.”

And in that last bit, you can tell I’m a french student.
