Oh man, I’m -pissed- now.

eBay took down one of my auctions — the Kate Spade bag — for some kind of infringement. Possibly trademark infringement, but I don’t know yet because I haven’t heard back from the katespade.com email address they gave me to contact about the whole thing.

Excuse me? This is just a little absurd. I’m obviously a totally small-time seller on eBay and it’s not like I’m passing off a fake as the real thing or anything like that. I absolutely need the money, and they freakin’ canceled my auction.

This is doing nothing to improve my mood, let me tell you. Grrr.

By the way, there’s less than one day left on the other auctions:

Yeah really. Damn shame, ’cause I’ve sold one on eBay before and make great profit on it (I find them in thrift stores). I guess it it turns out to be just a matter of using a TM after their brand name, I can manage it.

Except now, having looked through them, I’m wondering if this is authentic. If I hadn’t been in such a rush to list these auctions, I would have looked through existing listings to see what additional information about the purse I could pick up (name of style, material, all that) but I skipped it and just listed the purse. Now that I look through them, I don’t see -any- that look like this one. So I’m a little suspicious.

But if it’s a fake, it’s a pretty good fake, because the brand tag looks worn, but doesn’t look tampered-with or anything. I guess we’ll see when I hear back from Kate Spade.

Hey, at least the Coach is real. I’m sure of that.

I had actually checked that out when you first posted it to see if I wanted to bid (I’m a KS freak!) and I’m pretty sure that bag isn’t authentic because of the outside zipper. I’ve never seen a KS like that (other than the pocket on the back of the messenger bags) and the hardware didn’t look right to me.

That said, I also thought you were pretty good about not listing it as authentic in the auction. I’ve seen a lot of bad fakes listed as real. They must be cracking down pretty hard. I sold one about 2 years ago on there that I now am pretty certain was a fake, but was then sure it was authentic and had no problem.

Here’s a link on counterfeit bags that someone on ebay put together. I learned a *ton* from this site (though it’s ugly and hard to navigate.)
