I've run every day for the past six months (minus one or two here and there), but I do vary the intensity. My "rest" days are when I do slow 1 or 2 milers. I don't like to take days off completely from running, but I do recognize the restorative value of taking it easy on alternating days.

But we're talking about a lot of muscle downtime! I did 3 hilly miles on Sunday and 4 hilly miles on Monday, I didn't run at all Tuesday, did a slow 2 miles on Wednesday, and I was still feeling sluggish this morning. So I sure hope my legs appreciate the rest, and they'd better be ready to push it tomorrow morning. ;-)

Not to mention--running on concrete/asphalt is really *not good* for one's feet/knees/hips. Adding in our hills can make it really painful.

Let me just take this opportunity to say, again, that it was *so* good to see you!!

I've only been walking around here, and I'm sore. I don't know if that says something about how hilly it is here or how much more I have to work on staying in shape. Probably a bit of both, but I suspect more of the latter than the former :).

There's hilly, and there's HILLY. And it is, here: we're in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. I didn't even send you along my biking route, which is able to give me a decent workout in only six miles.

Are you running every day? When I was running five-mile days, I stuck to every other day at most. My body needed some time off to recover. Same thing for weights: I work out most days (okay, not this week, but I have priorities) but do not do the same muscle groups two days in a row.
