I don’t see where you can set the audience for the posting. So for public posts, this is a dandy idea. Which may still be pretty helpful.

If it only allows public posts, maybe you can be cagey the way people used to back in the old Usenet days? You know, talking about your work without specifying where it is or what kind of work you’re doing, stuff like that. And maybe change your user information to not be so obvious about who you are?
It would be great if we could get updates from you on a regular basis!

You can set the default for your journal to be friends only, and the mail posts pick that up. That’s how it’s been working for.

I’ve been able to leave private posts with the Palm interface (in AvantGo) and I think with one of the WAP cellphone interfaces.
